Where the fish live...
sylvan glade...

The Diamond B Trout Resort encompases five ponds, which are continuously replenished by natural cold water springs, part of the extensive aquifer system in the area. The underground springs mix oxygen from the air with the purified water, resulting in a consistent flow to our ponds with water of high purity and cold temperatures - a happy and healthy habitat for the fish.

The spring-fed ponds also provide natural feed for the fish; no commercial feed is used. Ponds are stocked regularly and most of our guests have no problem catching their limits!

The spring-fed ponds rarely freeze over, offering good fishing year-round. No boats are required since all areas of the ponds are accessible from the shore.

Three ponds are stocked with trout, while the remaining two ponds contain bass, bluegill, perch, crappie, and catfish.

  Bait and Catch Limits

NO LICENSE is required at the Diamond B Trout Resort!

There is a limit of 8 fish per adult, per day, composed of up to 4 trout. we ask that children's catches be included in these limits. We ask that you keep what you catch up to your daily limit to avoid unnecessary handling of trout, which destroys their protective coating. We stock catchable 11-14 inch trout for that reason.

Most baits are allowed, with the exception of minnows & corn. A bait shop located 6 miles to the east at Grove Lake State Recreation Area is available for your fishing supply needs. Artificial lures are fine to use as well.

  Cleaning and Disposal facilities
Outdoor cleaning tables, a hose and water, and in-ground scrap barrels are provided at each accomodation to help you clean and prepare the fish you catch. Knives and regular kitchen appliances are also provided, as are gas/charcoal grills.
  Stocking the Lakes
We generally re-stock the lakes with rainbow trout large enough to be caught and eaten right away. A local fishery currently provides us with 11-14 inch trout on a regular basis, but we plan to eventually raise our own. The stock trout are consistently divided between the same three main lakes, to assure a consistent catch pattern for our many repeat guests.

We stock often and in relatively large quantities for the same reason. We want you to be satisfied with your stay and have a good time. However, the trout dont always 'clock in' just because your pole is in the water. As any fisherman will tell you, weather plays a large part in the temperament of the fish, and you must be patient; prime hours for catching trout are said to be early morning and dusk.

Freshly caught and cooked trout cant be beat; wrapped in foil with a pat of butter and a lemon wedge, then cooked quickly over a flame. The result is a tender and firm fish, easy to eat and easy to clean up!
